AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
THE PLACE TO BE AFTER SCHOOL!
The Y's After-School Program provides a safe and caring place outside of the classroom to experience active play, arts, STEM, and other hands-on learning activities while parents or guardians work. Kids will receive a healthy snack and participate in supervised activities that keep them active and productive after the school day ends.
Ages: children in TK through 6th grade
Dates/Times: Monday-Friday (during the school year) from dismissal until 5:30 PM
Program Fees: A $15 program deposit is required at time of registration. You can sign up to pay per quarter or weekly.
- Quarterly Payment: $360 (saves 10%)
- Weekly Payment: $50/week (payments will be drafted on Friday to pay for the following week)
Locations:
- Le Mars YMCA: Children can walk to the After School Program, get dropped off by car or get dropped off by the Le Mars School Bus Route. The bus arrives at the Y’s front entrance by 3:45 PM.
- Gehlen Catholic: Children will be walked to the main office and wait outside the library to meet Y staff.
Financial Assistance: Is available for qualifying families. You can download and print the financial assistance application below, pick one up at the YMCA front desk or fill it out online.
Registration Forms: Since this program is licensed with the State of Iowa there are certain forms that need to be filled out and turned in BEFORE your child can start. You can stop by the YMCA and pick up the forms your you can print them through the link below.

Is there a sibling discount Yes! After the first sibling registers the remaining siblings get a 10% discount. To get your discount applied please reach out to Krista at 712-546-6655 or kristan@lemarsymca.org
What happens on early out days? On previous scheduled early out days out After School Program will begin in dismissal. For example, if school is dismissed at 1:30 PM, then the After School Program will start at 1:30 PM.
What happens when school cancels for income weather The After School Program will follow and adhere to all school closures. If school and all school activities are cancelled, then the After School Program will also be cancelled.
How will my child get to their program after school LE MARS Y LOCATION: Your child may take the school bus route and get dropped off at the Y, they may walk to the Y, or they may get dropped off by someone whom you approve. Staff will be waiting in the lobby to check your child in. GEHLEN LOCATION: Your child will walk to the library after dismissal and check in with staff.
What is the pick-up or check-out process? Only someone form your approved pick-up list can pick up your child. This person must come into the lobby and check out the child.
Is this a licensed child program? Yes! The After School Program, at BOTH sites, is licensed with the state of Iowa’s department of health & human services. The facilities, program and staff go through rigorous training, observation and regulations. Because of this there is a packet of forms that families will need to fill out on all children BEFORE they can attend.
What if my child no longer wants to participate in the program? We are willing to work with families to make any needed changes to make your child’s time more successful. However, we do realize that you may find a time where you no longer need the program. There will be no refunds issued for quarterly registrations. For the school year registration with weekly payments you would need to let us know you want to un-enroll at least 10 days prior to the next draft day (Fridays) so we can suspend payments.
Does the Y offer financial assistance? Scholarships are made available through generous annual campaign contributions. Individuals and families may apply for scholarships toward Y memberships and program, like the After School Program! You can email us to get an application: kristan@lemarsymca.org or stop by the Y and pick one up from the flyer display in our lobby (yellow sheet)/. Please wait to register for the program until after you have received notice of scholarship.
What paperwork is required to begin the program? Each child must submit a complete set of emergency information documents, waivers and state licensing forms prior to attending.

When school is out early, the Y is here for your child. You can count on our program and staff to provide a safe and fun environment where your child can relax, play and make new friends without you having to take time away from work. What is even EASIER is that we take this program to the schools- so you child doesn't have to leave! This program is offered on all scheduled early out days during the school year (1:20 dismissal).
