COED SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT

Save the date for Le Mars YMCA’s FIRST Co-ed Softball Tournament! Round up a softball team and enjoy 2 days of slow pitch softball. Minimum of 4 females on the team. Age Requirement: must be entering freshman year or older. Concessions will be available.

Cost: $250/ team.  Up to 10 players, minimum of 4 females..

When: August 7th & 8th, 2026

Where: Le Mars Riverview Complex

Ages: All players must be entering freshman year or older.

Schedule: Stay tuned!  Depends on how many teams, 2 games guaranteed. 

Fundraiser: This event will help the YMCA purchase security cameras for our youth program classrooms. 

Tournament Rules:

  1. Each game will be played to 7 innings.
  2. 3 outs an inning.
  3. Coin flip to determine who is the home team.
  4. 10 players allowed in the field: 4 outfielders & 6 infielders.
  5. A minimum of 4 females required.
  6. Batting order must alternate, with the exception of males batting back to back only twice. This includes if a male is batting first and a male is batting last in the line-up.
  7. All players begin each at bat with a 1-1 count. Each batter us given a courtesy foul ball, the second foul ball of that at bat is an automatic out.
  8. If a player takes 1 strike looking, it is a strikeout.
  9. If there is a male batter who is walked, and a female batter is behind them in the line-up, she has the option to take a walk. By doing so, all runners advance 1 base. The female also has the option to keep her at-bat, and by doing so no runners advance.
  10. Pitch height minimum: 6 feet. Pitch height maximum: No max height.
  11. No stealing bases. No leading off.
  12. To score runs you can touch the plate or the mat, try to stay safe.
  13. 1 homerun allowed per inning. The 2nd homerun in that inning results in an out.
  14. If at the end of 3 complete innings one team is ahead by 20 or more runs, the game is over and the winner is declared. If at the end of 4 innings one team is ahead by 15 or more runs, or after 5 innings one team is ahead 10 or more runs the game is over and a winner is declared.
  15. If the game is tied after 7 innings, “California Rules” will be applied. This means the last batted out from the previous inning shall begin on second base with one out already recorded. The batter will begin with a 3-2 count (no courtesy foul) and play will commence from there. 1 pitch: strikeout, walk or hit.
  16. Each team is allowed to bat as many rostered players as they choose but must follow the alternating batting order rules.
  17. A courtesy runner may be used once per half inning. Courtesy runner must be the person who committed the last out of the same sex for the team.
  18. All bats must be USSSA approved slow pitch softball bats.
  19. 5 warm-up pitches will be allowed in the first inning and two warm-up pitches will be allowed between innings. Infield ball or throwing the ball around the horn will only be allowed during the first inning.
  20. All games will be played using a 12″ ball.
  21. Pool seeding will be decided by the following:
    • Overall record, head to head and runs allowed
  22. We will schedule games 1 hour apart, but if the game is ahead of schedule we will start early, so be prepared.
  23. Please have all team members read the rules prior to games being played.
  24. Each team will have to supply an umpire for the next game, unless they are playing again. in which case the team not playing will have to supply two umpires.

Noon Basketball League

Get ready for some lunchtime hoops action with our NOON BASKETBALL LEAGUE!  Whether you’re looking to stay fit, blow off steam, or just connect with others, this is the perfect opportunity.  Open to ages 16 and up, so bring your A-game!

Cost: FREE for members!  Not a member yet?  No problem! Join us for just a $10 drop-in fee.

When: year-round on M/W/F from 12:00-1:00 PM

Pickleball Guidelines

Be social and make new friends by playing pickleball at the Y! All hours reserved by the Y are open play sessions.  During the scheduled open play times, socialize, get active, and have fun!  Gym space is reserved from October- April.

  • Members play for FREE during scheduled times
  • Non-members are welcome to play by purchasing a guest pass ($7)
  • Youth 11-13 must be accompanied by an adult (18+)
  • Nets and chairs cannot be set up more that 15 minutes before scheduled time

ADVANCE PLAYERS: Monday, Wednesday & Friday: 7:30-10:00 AM

  • 4 courts available
  • Gym will NOT be closed down to other members/guests: non-players can use east side basketball hoop (not on a pickleball court) and walk around the courts during open play times.

ALL PLAYERS: Tuesday & Thursday: 1:30-10:00 AM & 1:00-3:00 PM

  • Only 2 courts on the west side of the gym will be made available for open play.
  • The east side of the gym will remain open for other members and guests.
  • If the east side is open or becomes available the other 2 courts may be used.
  • Y staff WILL NOT remove any members or guest from the east courts during evening hours for your use.
  • Pickleball players cannot remove any members or guests from the east courts so they can play.

Gym Reservations

Anyone is able reserve a court time outside of our scheduled open play offerings.

  • 2 courts on the west side of the gym: $30/hour
  • 2 courts on the east side of the gym: $50/hour
  • FULL gym rentals are not guaranteed. Please contact the Y for full court rentals.

(All card payments will now include a 3% service charge.  Cash/Check accepted in person with no fee.)
